Abstract
This is a research paper on some selected problems of today's Cuban Maritime Safety Administration. It is aimed to show and explain how these specific problems within the Administration have affected the work and development of maritime safety affairs and how they could be solved. At the same time certain facts are presented about maritime activities in Cuba. Although the paper points out problems and offers suggestions and proposals, some of them require further study outside the framework of this presentation. An increase in expertise by training, the technical strengthening of certain activities and management, plus the necessity of bringing up-to-date national maritime legislation, are the chief findings in the paper.
